Hi there,

I have been using thunderbird for my work emails for about 5 months with no problems. At half 5 this evening I was no longer able to send or receive emails.

When I click "get mail" it just says "looked up mail.pitman-training.net..." instead of "No new messages" or whatever at the bottom and no emails come through. (I know there are emails waiting to come through because I have send several tests through from my personal webmail account)

When I try to send an email I get the following error: Sending of message failed. An error occurred sending mail: SMTP server smtp.pitman-training.net is unknown. The server may be incorrectly configured. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again.

I checked all my server settings and they are all correct.

Im using version 24.3.0. im using win 7.

Any ideas?

I desperately need to access these emails for work.

You are having DNS issues, if your in a corporate environment you will need to contact your help desk as the DNS server might have died or other server issues arisen, for smaller scale a good start would be to turn off all devices including modems, routers and firewall devices for 60 seconds and power them up again.
