When I click on my homepage after visiting other websites I get a screen saying the home page website has badware. Then when I ask it to ignore a screen pops up telling me how StopBadware program will clean up my computer. I don't trust the StopBadware program, since I don't know where it came from. Does FireFox support this program and if not how do I keep it from popping up every time I go back to my homepage? Thanks for any information you can provide.

I have found a thread you may want to look at. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/765945

It is suggested that StopBadware is uninstalled immediately and scanned with the programs suggested above.

Thanks!

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try some of the following programs to scan for malware:

I have Mcafee on my computer and run PC Maestro tuneup and neither have helped the StopBadware popping up. The sites you mentioned ask me to uninstall my antivirus and I didn't want to do this. I still don't know whether to let the StopBadware site try to fix the problem, since I don't know whether it is associated with Firefox and can be trusted.

Believe I got what I wanted. I never installed and will leave it alone. Thanks

I have this issue, too, and Stop Badware accuses one of our sites of having malware. When I click through using their own search engine, we are clean. When I go to Google Webmaster Tools, we are clean. After a week of seeing these false accusations, I am getting tired of it—although it is having a very negative effect on our traffic.

I appreciate that a service like this exists but if we are clean, then stop showing the page and giving us a bad name!

Unfortunately we have no control over Stop Badware. I will have the appropriate people have a look at this thread but we do not have control on what Stop Badware does.

Thanks, Feer! Each day I have to tell (my copy of) Firefox that our site is clean, each day I go to Stop Badware to check if there really is malware, and each day we come up clean!

It’s not to say that alerts haven’t come up before, but we keep checking and checking and there is nothing wrong! We’ve even been removing ad networks in case it’s them.

Thank you, Cor-el: I have now added my 2¢ and now following that thread.

And thank you for all your help over the year (and previous years!).
