How can I update Firefox?

I've been trying to go onto various websites, and instead of getting the images, I get a bunch of text, sometimes it doesn't make any sense. I thought it was from a recent add-on that I installed, so I did a system restore and turned off the add-on. The problem still occurs. I tried to update Firefox and reinstall, but every time I try I click where it says "download the latest version" and a new page comes up with no download button.

I've tried switching to Google Chrome and errors come up saying the file is corrupt, and everything I've tried from them hasn't worked, leading me to believe it it a problem with Firefox letting me download. I haven't been able to check my Yahoo mail because all I get is nonsense text or a "client side error." And any pages that involve formatting or images won't work. And since I can't reinstall Firefox or any other browser, I don't know how to fix it.

Hello Valerie.

Your Firefox is up to date if you are using 3.6.3 (at this date, since 3.6.4 will be released soon). You can check your version number by going into Help > About Mozilla Firefox.

If you are having a problem, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.

If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

If you need help installing Firefox (uninstalling your current version and then installing the latest versions won't delete your data and is an effective way of updating, if more time consuming than the normal Help > Check for Updates...), hopefully this support article is what you need:
