i cannot send or receive emails I am asked to put in my password. When that doesn't work I get asked to select a new password but that also doesn't work

Please provide more information, such as account info, server settings. It may be that your password is incorrect. Also, some email providers (such as Gmail) do not use passwords for email clients.
