You type about:config in the Location (address) bar like you would say type www.example.com

about:config is meant more for advanced users though. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-config-editor-firefox

Another about: url of interest is about:about as it lists all about urls for that Firefox version.

For future reference, I uploaded a copy of the Amazon UK search plugin to the Add-ons site under my own account. It will take a day or three for them to review and approve it. I'll add the link on Github when it's ready.
