Remove those "--" hyphens from an image signature

How do I remove the two hyphens that get added my email whenever I use a signature (every email).

I know this has been resolved on some previous editions of Thunderbird but the latest 115.2.3 and the previous one appears that editing the config file to make changes is no longer an option the way it was being done on older versions.

Also, why is it even there?

settings>General scroll down to 'config editor' look for this line: mail.identity.default.suppress_signature_separator; false Double click to toggle 'false' to 'true' or right click on line and select 'Toggle' Close config editor - top right X click on OK to save changes in Options.

That feature is used by many email clients, not just Thunderbird, as the line from which signatures are stripped when replying to message.

Thanks for your reply and sorry for my delay in my reply.

But I've seen this reply to this problem before, so presumed I was missing something.

I've looked for the line mail.identity.default.suppress_signature_separator on two pc's running Thunderbird but for the life of me I cannot find it.

I've attached a copy of the lines I can see.

there are more entries than mail.identity.id1 type the name in slowly and the desired one will appear.
