Suddenly neither my wife or I can use Thunderbird to connect to the Yahoo IMAP and SMTP servers. Reentering and then changing the App Specific password does not work. I have gone to the Yahoo Mail Account Settings site and there is no toggle for turning insecure access on or off although it is supposed to be there. I get frequent messages from Yahoo that I should turn off insecure access by which I think they mean Thunderbird. Now It seems that they have turned it off unilaterally and I cannot turn it back on.

Okay, the inability to retrieve/send email using Yahoo Mail has now been solved on two computers. But now on a third computer I get a notice saying that my Yahoo Mail account has rejected the log in attempt because "[CLIENTBUG] SELECT command is not valid in this state". What is that all about? On the third computer I can retrieve/send using my wife's profile, but when attempting it with my profile I get the above error message.

Does anyone know why this would happen for just 1 email? I have several Frontier/Yahoo email accounts, but I get this same error message for just the 1 account.

From the dozens of Yahoo posts here Yahoo seems to have a problem or they changed something.

I agree. There is supposed to be a toggle in the settings for Yahoo mail to turn blocking of insecure mail apps on/off, but the toggle is not there.

Yahoo being Yahoo. I guess it is now Verizon/Yahoo/AOL and they are rolling it all into something called Oath.

I also am now unable to login to Yahoo! Mail from Thunderbird.

This has just happened the last 2-3 days.

I tried restarting Thunderbird in safe mode (with all add-ons disabled) and re-checked relevant account and server settings, but none of this worked.

I have no problem logging in to my Yahoo! Mail directly, so the problem is between Thunderbird and Yahoo! Mail.

This problem has been resolved for me as well, sometime in the past 12 hours.
