Installation of Firefox failing with a 7-Zip Error Box stating "The System Cannot find the File Specified"

more options

When I upgraded to the latest Firefox on my Windows 7 PC , I get a 7-Zip Error Box stating " The System cannot find the file specified". This happens approximately two thirds into the installation. I have tried turning the Virus checker off and re-installing, but to no avail.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Try this:

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Thank you for your reply Cor-el, I booted my computer in safe mode with networking, went through deleting every mention of mozilla/firefox that I could find, ran virus scanners, stopped my anti virus and turned off my firewall, but unfortunately the installation still fails at exactly the same point each time, at about 81% of installation with the same error 7-Zip "The System Cannot find the File Specified" :-(
