Hi - I've been having stability problems with my Gmail on Chrome and so have returned to FF. Enjoying it too! However, the spellchecker does not work with Gmail - the tool I use most where a spellchecker is vital!

Actually I cant be sure it's working anywhere - and I have ensured its enabled & I've even added English UK dictionary.

Please can some-one help?

Thanks Selucreh.

Open Gmail and select send new message. Misspell something. If it gets flagged (sometimes it gets underlined) the spell checker is working. Firefox has it's own spellchecker. I think Gmail has it's own also. On my Hotmail account, the spell checker checks after I press the Send button.

Gmail: check your user settings

Firefox: Type about:config<Enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. This is where Firefox finds information it needs to run. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type layout.spellcheckDefault Set it's value = 2.

OK - Ive tried the fire fox fix you suggest with no success. Even misspelling something here does not com up as an erorr! See wot I meen! More help please if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

The spellcheck seems to be here-and-there for some reason. I've noticed that it only works in certain areas automatically. Try this:

Go to the text area you want to spellcheck (like your email message) right click, and click "Check Spelling." This always works for me, although I'm not sure why it doesn't stay on.
