Paste function not working in Firefox 28 in Blackboard Learn

Copy and paste is working everywhere else (Office applications, Chrome, Notepad). I've run in safe mode (disabling all the add-ons), done the 'reset', done a cold-boot, all to no avail. I'm faculty making updates to Blackboard 9 course content. I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit) at the moment, but the same problem occurred on my Windows 8 (64-bit) Surface Pro 2 tablet.

I run into problems frequently when using Firefox In Blackboard or the Banner web portal right after a Firefox update. I usually just switch to Chrome, although I prefer Firefox. A week or so later, everything is working again. I just wish the developers would test on those two systems before sending an update out. There are a lot of people at universities using those two software packages. Our tech support folks are now recommending that everyone at our university use Chrome all the time because it is more stable (fewer trouble calls for them). Help me out here.
