how do I undo a sync

more options

Ok so my most updated bookmarks were on my new desktop and my phone. I had to travel and took my old laptop and phone. I thought I could update my laptop with the new bookmarks by synching it with my phone but I was wrong. Now on all devices I have my old bookmarks that was on laptop and lost all of my new bookmarks.

Is it possible to undo a synch so I can get my new bookmark's back?

Does firefox have a customer service number?

I can't believe all of my new bookmarks are gone. It's devasting

Hi sjm80, sorry to hear about this problem.

Desktop installations of Firefox typically make a daily bookmark backup. You can try restoring one of those files to replace the older set you have now. If you need to mix and match, you can convert a backup file to an HTML format for reference or importing.

(1) Restore feature

Please see this article: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

(2) Converter

I have a converter on my website here:

https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/bookbackreader.html

The backups are stored in your active Firefox profile folder. To access that, use either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows/File Explorer.

If you use a Mac, the button is labeled "Show in Finder". If Finder highlights an icon with a semi-random name like a1b2c3d4.default, double-click it to display the contents of that profile folder.

Then double-click into the bookmarkbackups folder to find the compressed backup files. Note that they cannot be opened directly due to the compression.

Any progress so far?
