My computer had an old sync for another account. I forgot the password, so I had to restore it and to sync everything again. But every time I restarted computer or Firefox I was receiving the same yellow error message at the bottom of the screen that "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action". But it didn't retried this action and i was signing in every day. I read a lot of information about it and found out that if I had another computers synced to the same account I have to update it otherwise I wouldn't be able to sync anything. Cause I don't have an opportunity to update Sync on another computer, I decided to create another Sync account. But unfortunately I still have this yellow error everytime I restart the browser, even this account is new. Please, help me! This situation is very annoying! Thanks in advance!

In case of issues with Sync you can try this:

Disconnect from Sync and Reconnect to Sync again.

You can disconnect from Sync by clicking the e-mail address in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list or go to "Options/Preferences > Sync".

Delete the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder and delete the Weave folder (Sync was formerly named Weave). Remove an existing chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Firefox Password Manager.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

If that isn't enough then delete the prefs.js file to reset all prefs and maybe also delete the compatibility.ini file to reinitialize the profile.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Delete and re-create the FxA account or change the Sync password. Can you log in to the Sync account via this page?

Given that all of the local data for your profile has a back up, if not please do this first before making any changes:

After, go to the computer that has this error bar and open up the about:preferences#sync menu from the preferences button in the top right most part of the browser window.

Remove the account. Add it back.

Thank you. Only when I've done all the parts from your instructions, refreshed firefox and created one more mozilla account, it finally synced:)
