After doing a new FF 19.0.2 installation on a freshly built Win XP computer, cannot select "Clear history when Firefox closes" because it is greyed out.

hello Tomcatfixer, from your configuration it appears that you've already set firefox to always use private browsing mode in the options panel, therefore firefox won't create a history anyway. so the option to clear the history when firefox closes would be repetitive...

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
