Actually saying that I retract that opera works fine, it only works fine for one of my yahoo accounts not all of them so it could be a yahoo and thunderbird issue

Verizon, the owner of AOL and Yahoo, reports a email system outage and has stated this all morning. https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/fiosinternet/email/troubleshooting/questionsone/85634.htm

It would be nice if a Verizon/Yahoo customer would contact them and see if this is the problem. Continually posting "me too" is not getting anywhere.

There are even a couple threads from Roger.com customers that are also served by Yahoo.

Earlier this morning I requested that a Thunderbird developer take a look at this mass Yahoo problem.

FREE Yahoo email accounts don't carry much weight with Yahoo/Verizon FWIW, a PAID Yahoo account misbehaves as well (from someone reporting here in the Yahoo Community)> https://forums.yahoo.net/t5/Password-and-sign-in/Login-to-server-imap-mail-yahoo-com-failed-from-Thunderbird/m-p/298597/highlight/false#M52420 < NOW 6 pages long

OK. two points.

One: This does not explain why other apps/software can connect through IMAP (Bluemail on my android as well as Outlook on my PC and windows 10 e-mail on my wife's computer all can connect to my account.)

Two: doesn't explain why this problem re-occurs every couple of days in my case.

Can you explain why Verizon has said their email system has been down all day?

There are people on the Yahoo forum claiming that their android phones and Kindle tablets do not work. In case you do not know, Thunderbird does not run on either of those devices.

I am not defending Thunderbird. In the last month or two gmail implemented a change that made Thunderbird fail to log in. Thunderbird had to release version 52.xx to fix that. Maybe Yahoo thought that wold be a good idea too. If anyone had the answer it probably would have been solved so far. I hear Em Client works. Use that.

I do not use Yahoo. They have proved themselves to be the worst of the worst email providers over and over. I am personally done with this.

Verizon has had that same "check back in an hour" message all day - I didn't give it much credence then and still don't

My bet is that Yahoo Mail is STILL very much separate from Verizon's customers' email system SPECTRUM bought TimeWarner BEFORE Yahoo-Verizon merger and they did not change a thing = still Roadrunner (@tx.rr.com for me in Dallas)

On the same computer, connection, etc. Yahoo works in MS Windows 10 MAIL app - speedy setup to test last night - still working today

Not saying it is NOT whatever Yahoo did, but Yahoo damn sure ain't happy with TBird, and others reported here

THANKS AGAIN for kickin' this up the stairs for us, amigo... I don't blame you AT ALL for bailing out now

I tried installing Tbird v45.6.0 & 45.8.0. Both had the same problem. I have been able to access my yahoo mail account since this problem started with out any problem. Yahoo must have changed the interface preventing Tbird to login.

Thank you so much! I guess Twitter is the most effective way to reach Yahoo. Have saved their Twitter handle. Airmail, you're the best!

Not the same thing for me this morning - there was just "no response" to checking Yahoo mail - as if there were no unread messages

I was in the process of composing a NEW Question regarding that issue when TBird MAGICALLY started getting YMail messages - as if it never happened
