BBC website not loading properly
Having upgraded to windows 7 Firefox was loaded and was working well. the recent upgrade to v5 was working ok in the past week the BBC web site which I could use normally has now been turned into a blank white page with numbers down the r/h side, then if you scroll down you get all the html scripting, but no photos or logos etc. every other web site I visit works fine but the BBC site cannot be viewed.

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
-> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
-> go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset" -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Time range to clear: select EVERYTHING -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on Cookies, Cache, Site Preferences -> click "Clear Now"
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> General -> When Firefox starts : select "Show My Home Page" -> Type the address of the website which you want to be your HomePage e.g. http://www.google.com
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> Firefox will: select "Use Custom Settings for History" -> REMOVE Checkmark from "Permanent Private Browsing mode" -> place CHECKMARKS on:
1) Remember my Browsing History 2) Remember Download History 3) Remember Search History 4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" window
4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"
-> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
-> When using the Location Bar, suggest: select "History and Bookmarks"
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains. See:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load
Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically Check the exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions
You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab. Click the website favicon (Site Identity Button) on the left end of the location bar.
Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info"). Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key. If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Check and tell if its working.

Hi,
Thanks for all you efforts. still no joy.
I have saved my Bookmarks to my hard drive. I then uninstalled firefox includng all personal data. rebooted and reinstalled firefox 5.0.1 I noticed it has re added some plugins and add ons so I restared Firefox with them disabled. So I had firefox no add ins no extensions enabled and no plugins, no personas, and no extra tool bars. I used the google search bar to find the BBC I selected the Homepage and hey presto it appears....... I then tried selecting the News, -----blank white page with html on it same as the attachment I submitted above. This pc is on a network at my house, another Pc on the same network Also with Windows 7 and Firefox 5 can get all the BBC sites no problems at all.
I have followed everyones suggestions all listed above and I still have the same blank screen with just html on it. Am very confused as to what is going on as I can go search any other web site with problems what so ever.......I don't need the BBC web site, but I do like using it for the news and science stuff ....perhaps will have to try else where?
Thanks
Steve
Hi,
This has been bugging me for some time, so I went through everything I have done over the past few weeks. I have finally found the culprit.
Zone Alarm , I upgraded to the new version 10.0.2.246.000. If I disable it the BBC website works normally, now trying to find the right combination within Zone Alarm to make every thing work.
Thanks every one.
