I get no warning when auto updates begin installation. I get notified about 1/2 way through the process. The pc (Win 10 pro 64bit) slows to a crawl for 5-10 minutes, then the install finishes, & then it's another 5-10 minutes before the pc is usable.

I would really appreciate a "update is available" notification, which I would agree to at a convenient time. This is really getting to be problematic. Other browsers that do auto updates don't hose my pc.

Thank you!

As a person with dozens of windows and over 100 tabs open, I know that any time I restart Firefox it's going to take a while, but your scenario sounds like something is going very wrong.

Either way, you can set Firefox to notify you when an update is available and wait for your approval to download it. On the Settings page, type update in the tiny search box to bring that section into view.

Go into Tools -> Settings -> General Section and look for the Firefox Updates section and make sure the Check for updates but let you choose to install them option is checked and not the Automatically install updates option. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/alcOKIm.png

Then, it will check for the update but let you choose to install it or not. Ever since I had it set that way, it's never just auto installed an update.

Thank you! Oddly the Mozilla email wouldn't let me selected solved from there.............. Only security is Malwarebytes (browser & pro) & No Script. I tried turning both off, it made no difference. But not a big deal.
