After following the steps laid out in multiple reference articles such as the ones found within the knowledge base here, I'm not having any success at transferring my TBird Data.

The new install opens but none of the local folders (or emails) from the WIN7 install are populated.

The settings and the address book are the only things that seems to have been imported.

I've read through many posts on the subject and I'm completely flummoxed as to why I'm having these issues.

I'm coming from a WIN7 Ultimate / 6.1.76010Build 7601 SP1 / 64-bit machine and have been using Thunderbird / 68.12.0 (32-bit) / release update channel

I'm migrating to a Win 10 Pro / 20H2 Build 19042.508 / 64-bit machine and the version TBird I'm trying to backup to is: Thunderbird / 78.3.1 (32-bit) / release update channel

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

hadn't seen this post before submitting mine

but before attempting the the process offered up by christ1 (thanks for the link man cause that's got info I hadn't come across before)... I downloaded MozBackup ver. 1.5.2-beta; followed some instructions (for the 1.5.1 ver) on this link here - https://appuals.com/transfer-thunderbird-to-a-new-computer/

and was up and running in no time!

wish I'd have come across this handy little utility (no install required) cause I was done and dusted in no time flat

I assume the path to the email storage folders are "wrong" on the new computer settings for TB - if and only if you have copied to the new computer also those folders - then close TB on the new computer and try to search in the prefs.js file (can be opened with any text editor as notepad) the path to your old profile (with old windows local user) and replace them with the path from the new computer (so new windows local user).

Those path should start with C:\\Users\\... and what follows that path is different on the new computer as on the old computer and that information you should update it. After that start TB and see if it's OK.
