Cannot disable 'place a copy in' sent folder, Thunderbird creating two duplicate messages in sent folder every time I send mail
Thunderbird is flooding my "sent" folder with duplicate copies of my sent messages. Every time I send a message, Thunderbird creates two copies of that message in my "sent" folder. Only one message is actually sent.
I have googled the problem and every result I found tells me to disable the "Place a copy in" setting for saving copies of sent mail. The problem, however, is that these solutions don't seem to take into account the scenario when THAT SETTING IS GREYED OUT AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN IT OFF.
So how do I disable this infuriatingly annoying bug? The checkbox is literally greyed out. It is literally impossible to turn off. How do I fix this incredibly annoying problem?

You know what just forget it. I used to like Mozilla software but its clear you guys have taken a turn for the worse with your latest hipster trend of injecting bloatware and garbage into everything. Now that you've completely broken Thunderbird and disabled the option to disable saving duplicate copies of your messages in your sent folder I'll simply uninstall Thunderbird and find a different email client. It just breaks my heart to see Mozilla stoop this low. Used to be great software now its just bloated garbage identical to its competition.
I have uninstalled Thunderbird and will never be installing it again. Thanks for turning into Microsoft #2, Mozilla. R.I.P.
Your picture suggests the account is POP, but there are some sections missing, such as Security and Return Receipts. What is the Server Type at the top of Server Settings, and what is the Server Name?
its a microsoft exchange account sfhowes but no worries i have uninstalled thunderbird and will never use it again. this was the final straw for me. i was a mozilla fan for like the past two decades and ive finally had enough after seeing all the horrible stuff they did to firefox and thunderbird lately. i wont be using any mozilla products anymore from now on. mozilla is completely broken and identical to its microsoft competitors now. may as well just use outlook and IE at this point (horrible I know, but thats how bad mozilla software has gotten)
for anyone else having this problem I solved it by uninstalling thunderbird and installing Postbox. Apparently Postbox is a fork of Thunderbird developed by former mozilla employees that isn't a complete piece of worthless garbage like thunderbird is. It worked immediately out of the box without any major issues (including the infuriating sent mail duplication bug that thunderbird is famous for). The only problem is that it doesn't see my folders from my exchange account but I can honestly live without them. Hope this helps anyone else having this same problem.
Microsoft Exchange... that is accessed by an add-on if it is exchange. Thunderbird can not natively connect to that proprietary protocol. Thunderbird does open mail protocols POP, IMAP and SMTP.
Did you consider asking the add-on author what the problem is with the add-on. What you are dealing with is not Thunderbird.
Have a look in the add-ons menu. Do you have exquilla installed?

You might want to click the support email link on the page and get support. I really do not know. But you will not get support for that add-on here simply because no one here uses it.
