zooming google map does not work properly on firefox (after v. 59) - touch screen device

So, as mentioned in the question/title. On touch screen device (my device is surface pro 3), the pinch to zoom in or zoom out does not work. When we tried to pinch, it will always start from the largest zooming level. On firefox v.59 and earlier, we can zoom normally by pinch the screen. i have tried clear all data/profile, disable extension, run from safe mode. it always fails. any suggestions..?

Your useragent still says Firefox 59, so please update to 61.0.2, then test again. You shouldn't be using 59 anymore anyway

Sorry if i was unclear. I am still using v.59 because it is the latest version firefox that is working with google maps (zooming). The video I attached in the first post was made using v.61. I also tried v.61.0.2, also I tried beta v.62. Give the same issue.

Can you update your graphics driver? Check for Windows updates, if there is nothing there, check your device manufacturer.

Also, disable nosquint. See if that helps.

Finally, I'd STRONGLY suggest updating to Windows 10. It's far more performant (also, Many times safer) than 8.1, and that alone may address the issue. The driver is very new, just updated last month, but the problem came even several months ago. I have tried running in a fresh install ff, no addons, clean profile. Also using safe mode, no luck. for win 10.. I have license for it. but.. when I installed it last time, it make my surface fan running almost all the time, and I feel win 10 is not very touch friendly as win 8. Maybe I will consider it later.

My point is: if on FF v.59 and before the google map is working properly, and on v.6*.*.* is not, then mozilla changed something. I hope that they can revert what they changed to fix this problem.

I tried again FF 62.0. the problem is still exist in this version. I also tried google map in google chrome, I can zoom in/out by pinch the screen. So, I really think it is problem with firefox, not graphic driver, etc.

I think, this problem will also occur by pinch on mouse trackpad (not only for touch screen devices). can anyone with trackpad confirm this?

I have no issues with Firefox on Windows 10, using touchscreen or the trackpad.

You have checked to ensure there's no driver updates? Have you disabled hardware acceleration?

It may be just your hardware is underpowered and Firefox is struggling. You can try installing Firefox Nightly, testing there (use a new profile) and if it still causes an issue file a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org
