Your question was :

'Trending'  articles are   currently popular   articles ..... (?)

Sorry, I caused misunderstanding on your part. I live in Germany, the recommendations by pocket in my Firefox are already German. They have been from the start. Hence I asked, if there is a localised version. I thought pocket or firefox detects what language one is using or where one is located and then concludes, that the user probably wants articles that are trending in the language he uses on his system or where he is located.

So, my question should be: what is the adress where the trending articles in other languages/regions are listed?

When on that 'Trending' page I type in the search box 'Germany' I get this :

Thank you. But these are articles ABOUT Germany trending in english speaking countries (mainly USA, looking at the results).

These are not articles trending IN Germany (or german speaking countries).

'Had to re-read your posts a couple of times to finally 'get it', but now I do. Recap : Your original question about articles, recommended in the past, is no longer an issue. You live in Germany, so no need to look for a translation English => German. You would now like to see trending articles, meaning : articles about what's currently trending in Germany.

('Hope I got it right this time)

I think I'd best refer you to my first post ......

I don't know if I'm giving away any personal information here... (CODE REMOVED)

If I open the new tab page in one window, and Firefox's Browser Console in another window, then change the options of the new tab page to turn OFF recommendations, then change the options to turn ON recommendations, my Firefox sends these two requests (as shown in the Browser Console):

https://getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net/v3/firefox/global-recs?version=2&consumer_key=REMOVED&locale_lang=en-US

https://getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net/v3/firefox/trending-topics?version=2&consumer_key=REMOVED&locale_lang=en-US

The first one seems to be for the stories linked on the page, and the second one seems to be for a row of "Popular Topics" links that appears below it.

So take a look at:

https://getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net/v3/firefox/global-recs?version=2&consumer_key=REMOVED&locale_lang=de -- please refer to email notification of this reply for the original link

Well, actually, that's a structured data response, so it's not all that friendly to look at. But it's there if you think it could be useful.

Sorry, I explain what happened here:

1. In the beginning I was under the impression Firefox/pocket gives me personalised and localised recomendations. Personalised, meaning: depending on what sites I visit, at which daytime, what articles of the recommendations I click, etc. -> I asked for "where can I find those recommendations?"

2. you gace me trending articles in the whole of America.

3. I thought: "Oh, maybe my impression is wrong and in fact pocket doesn't look what could be interesting for ME, but instead is just giving me three example from a general list of trending articles. (<- I made that conclusion from the fact, that you gave me that long list of trending articles.) In short, from that point on I thought recommendations and trending is the same. Why did I confuse them? Because when I asked for recommendations by pocket you gave me "trending". Which was btw nice, I am not complaining!

4. because of my confusion of recomendations and trending, I then asked for "trending articles IN Germany.

WHAT DID I WANT TO KNOW, THEN? I wanted to know, if there is a way to recap, what pocket sugguested to me. Not in America, not about Germany, not in the whole of Germany, but to me. (It seems that the recommendations are personalised. I have no pocket account, so they must collect the data from my online acitivity, I guess.)

I hope I don't sound harsh or as if I am angry or agressive. There is really no problem, I am just trying to be precise, when I talk so much and recollect who said what.

Thank you! But where not quiet there. :)

I looked into link three. Unfortunately, it seems to list what it would have recommended to you in the last month. Some of the articles were recommended to me, too. But I also see a lot (the bigger amount of it) that I didn't have. But, thanks, it made me able to conclude that there is indeed a difference between trending and personal recommendations.

PS: I see that article 0-2 and 15-19 are identical with my recomendations. The rest from 3-14 is different. Strange that the last four are identical for both of us. Makes me wonder, if this is pure chance/coincidence or there is a reason.

'Been searching some more and wound up here :

Scroll all the way down to : 'Making the web a more interesting place' => 'Browsing, search and explore the very best of the web'

What I typed in lead me to these (older) trending articles :

What's trending in Germany

Any good  ?

Thank you for the amount of time you are puting into this to help me! Very apreciated, thank you!

Unofrtunately these are all articles in english from english/american sources (msn.blog, nytimes, newyourker, theverge, rollingstone,..). Of course some of those newspapers have editions in German language, but these are all english. The articles are also very old (some from 2013. I know, you warned me that they are old).

The articles pocket recommended to me were: - it seems somehow personalised (well, not always hitting my exact taste) - they were in German language - from newspapers and blogs that publish in German language -> German: Zeit-online newspaper, "Der Spiegel",... -> Swiss: NZZ (Neue Züricher Zeitung),... -> Austria: Der Standard, Wiener-Zeitung,... -> english newspapers that have a German Version - the topics were about German stuff, but ALSO about world stuff or interesting studies from scientists arround the world or e.g. about an interesting new business that has opened in America or Sweden.

As for the language : When I gave you this link earlier :

https://help.getpocket.com/article/1132-changing-your-language-in-pocket

You said you don't need it.

As for you finally getting what you are looking for, I once again can only suggest that you contact the Pocket team (that's what they want you to do anyway) :

https://getpocket.com/contact_support

But hey, who knows - somebody else here just might come up with the perfect answer for you ......

Sorry, if I confused you. I try to explain again.

I said I don't need the "change your displayed language in your browser"-link, because I don't want to change the language. What I meant to say was that I am German, I read German newspapers that are written in German. My Firefox is in German language, Pocket sugguests me articles from German newspapers and blogs (articles that were originaly German and are not translated from other languages into German).

Then you offered me this https://www.getpocket.com/explore/articles%20about%20what's%20trending%20in%20germany?src=search The search results are results from english/american newspapers that were originally written in english and are still english. I do not need a translation of these or their german version (if they had one). These are english articles that are trending in Germany, meaning: genuine english articles read by a lot of Germans.

I was asking for: genuine german articles read by a lot of Germans (and recomended by pocket to me on the firefox homescreen).

jscher2000 had offered me a list of articles, which were familiar to me. Some of those were in my recommendations that I got from pocket, some not.

PS: I sent my question to the pocket support yesterday already, but will have to wait for their answer.

I have ne additional question. What day and month did you set? Is it a time period or one day only? When I answered you this afternoon, I thought these were the results of several days. But now I wonder, if this is maybe all trending articles (in Germany, in German language by German speaking newspapers/blogs) and out of this pool I got shown three the first time I logged into my PC (results 0-2) and another three the second time on the same day (results 16-19). Or were they the ones recommended to you in the last days?
