I use Firefox and Yahoo.com as my home page. When I am looking at items on my home page, random advertisement on the page start playing and I can't stop them from running. Therefore I have to turn my volume all the way down on my speakers if I don't want to hear the advertisements.

I cannot find a way to keep them from playing. When I try to close them out a questionnaire comes up and asks why you don't want them on the screen. I don't really care if they are there, I just don't want them starting automatically and running in the back ground without my permission. I sure that is also slowing down my computer when these things are running in the background.

Hi  ! Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista if you don't already have one. Windows 8/10 have antivirus protection built-in.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
