I have found it impossible to do things on certain websites. Today, it is foxconnect.com.

When I add items to my shopping cart, all is good. When I go to checkout, the site has me login, the shopping cart goes empty but the site acknowledges who I am by saying "Welcome Dennis." I try to add the items back to the shopping cart again, but when I do, my account is logged out and the site once again says "Welcome Guest" but the item shows in the cart.

At first I thought it was a site issue, so I tried clicking the Contact Us button on the bottom of the screen to let them know I am having order problems. I selected the type of issue, filled in the fields I needed to, then towards the bottom, entered the "captcha" anti-spam code needed to validate the message, then clicked the "Contact Us" button on the bottom of the page to submit the message. Nothing happened - no errors, no nothing.

I eventually had to complete my order using IE 9.

Check your cookie settings. If you have cookies disabled for that website, it will not be able to show you your cart, and may have problems remebering your identity.

Such a shopping cart stores its data in a cookie just like the log in credential, so it looks that this cookie isn't working for some reason.
Make sure that you allow cookies from that domain.

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

The site shows it is keeping 7 cookies, one of them is labeled CART. I guess I can remove them all and try the process again.
