Hi

Was online tonight watching some youtube videos when all of a sudden I got a yellow alert bar across the top of my browser that read

"One or more installed add-ons cannot be verified and have been disabled"

Shortly after I noticed all my add on buttons in my tool bar were missing not just one or two but all the add on buttons. After poking around I got into the add ons area and saw all were missing when I clicked on legacy some were there but might have just been older versions.

So I googled it and seems like I am not alone as alot of others have also had this happen today. See below.

Does anyone know what is going on and if there is a fix in the works or already a solution to fix this?

Thanks Dave

Mozilla has rolled-out a fix for this. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours, you don’t need to take active steps.

In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled

  1. Go to [=] > Options > Privacy & Security.
  2. Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked.

I you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled.

They are working on a general fix that doesn't need to rely on this and will keep you updated.

There is a problem with an expired intermediate certificate that is used to sign extensions. This is being worked on by the Add-ons team.

See:

At about 6:10 PST we received a report that a certificate issue for Firefox is causing add-ons to stop working and add-on installs to fail.
Our team is actively working on a fix. We will update as soon as we have more information.
  • Bug 1548973 - (armagadd-on-2.0) All extensions disabled due to expiration of intermediate signing cert

So despite what Wakkowarner said I assume once that is remedied all removed addons will be restored or will I have to restore them all myself manually afterwards?

Thanks that worked and updated within a few seconds actually and once I disabled it again the addons at least for the time being are all back again.

Thanks

Note that the hotfix is currently applied via a shield study, so you only get this fix when studies are enabled.

Right but you can disable it afterwards that is what I did I enabled it as directed and then disabled it as soon as I got my icons back and it's working fine with the studies disabled. As Chris stated

(Typo fixed!)

"If you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled."
