Firefox Freezes with Script Error
Firefox keeps freeing/hanging. First you will see the errors that pop up for me. Then the troubleshooting I have done to solve this problem.
Script Error: Script: http://z-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/browser-scripts/imageBlock/imageBlock-3190704718._V1_.js:773
For troubleshooting I have tried the following: disable addon's and restart in safe mode (did not help) disable theme and restart in safe mode (did not help) reset firefox (did not help) uninstalled Firefox & removed all traces of browser from my computer (yes even the registry was removed)
after doing the above I still had all my previous settings. I used IE to download a fresh copy and tired again. Still have all my settings, plugin's, tabs, and unremoved cookies and a little history
I am not tech savvy but the script errors made me think of Javascript. I went to about:config and searched for Java when javascript.enabled showed up I disabled and the problem has disappeared.
I know I need this javascript enabled. I cannot do much of anything at my site with is disabled.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this script hanging problem.
Thanks for any help.

There are two things I want you to try The first is to re-install Firefox using these instructions. If there is still a problem, then follow the instructions to Reset Firefox. Do the install FIRST !
Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;
Using your file browser, open the Programs folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla and Firefox folders by adding .old to them.
Now run the full installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
Reset Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !
Reset Firefox -- easily fix most problems
If you're having problems with Firefox, resetting it can help. The reset feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs.

Create a new profile, and use it. Do you still have problems?

Sorry for the slow reply FredMcD I went out.
I tried that and it did the same thing. It froze/hung and gave me a script error.
What is your system, and Firefox version?
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.
Sorry I knew I needed to add something else.
Windows 7 64 bit professional Acer Aspire 5733 Processor Intel Core i3 CPU M 370 @ 2.40 GHz Installed Memory 4.0 GB (3.68 usable) Local Disk 500 GB (used space 66.3 GB)
If you need additional information let me know where to find it.
I saved documents, music, photos, etc on an external hard drive. It is 3 TB. If a program can run from the external drive I install it there and not my computer.
I have MS Security Essentials, Malware bytes Anti-Malware, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. I do not know if it makes any difference but I have satellite internet and use a private IP address.

See if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
From the sfc scan: Windows Resource Protection did not find any intergrity violations.
I have Intel graphics card. Downloaded the Intel driver update utility tool and everything is updated.
Hi kybunnies, I understand that you are experiencing a script error visiting a site after trying a new profile as well. Have you tried an add on called NoScript? It is possible to add the scripts to the list to block, however if these scripts are essential it is also possible to extend the timeout for scripts to 10 seconds.
To do this: In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
- In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
- Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
- search for dom.max_script_run_time and double click on the 10 to a larger number.

That stopped the error from popping up but makes the pages slow in loading. If that is the only way to fix it I an live with that. I wish I knew what was wrong.
I have only installed one program and that was Overdrive for Windows. But I do not see how that would cause any problems for Firefox but then I am not a techie person so who knows.
Thanks maybe it will help or the bug will work it's self out in the future.
Oh I set the time to 30 instead of 10. I have tried No Script in the past but I need scripts.
I do not know if it matters but this problem started 6-8 weeks ago or less. Back in the summer (June or July) I took my computer in for an update (Memory) and the tech suggested I remove the Java installed on my computer. Would that be why FF keeps hanging/freezing?
I have visited most of the websites where I get the error and it is still happening. Some sites will not even load.
Any other suggestions. I know the two people that replied are trying to help so please forgive my frustration in this problem.
Merry Christmas and please stay with family and worry about replying to this after Christmas day. Spending time with family is more important than any problem.
Best

Can you post the web addresses where you are having problems?
What is the differences between the problem and no problem pages?
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select Network. Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. Check the settings.
Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page, do a right click in the box and select Paste. This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.
Main pages I visit: Amazon, Audible, Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, Overdrive, Reddit, G+, most any page with images. Does not happen on mobileread.com.
I work from home. I promote authors and an authors assistant. Those are the main pages I visit besides the author's website. If you give me until Friday or Saturday I can keep a log of it happening on every page I visit. I know it seems trivial but when the browser is going slow it takes longer for me to complete a task and I lose money.
I have teamviewer & able to share a screen if someone is interested in digging deeper. Let me know and I will give an email address or my homepage show below is my blog. I can be contacted from that site. But please do not worry about this. It is Christmas spend it with family. They are more important than this problem. I promise I have no desire to download and use a different browser. I am a dedicated FF person.
I connect using an IP from my internet provider. I have a password I enter each time Firefox starts.

If it helps any the support pages here are very slow and hangs when loading.
Contact your provider and have them test your service.
Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Try this out for a run. Do the pages load better? (Testing purposes only) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/image-block/ Image Block 2.1 by Hemant Vats
Image Block adds a toggle button that conditionally blocks/allows loading of images on webpages. Blocking images results in faster browsing, especially helpful on handheld devices or slower connections like GSM/GPRS/EDGE dial-up etc.
Yes the problem still happens when in safe mode.
I installed each add-on suggested. So far that has stopped the problem.
Hopefully that will keep working. If not I will either reply here or created a new ticket.
Thanks for you help.
Okay those plugin's do not work for all sites.
Okulungisiwe
The two add on's made the problem worse. It would take around 2-3 minutes for pages to load.
Took my computer to my parents house on Christmas day. Still had problems with Firefox loading so it is not my internet connection.
Any other suggestions.
