Since this morning my Thunderbird is not responding - everytime I try to open or send an email it stops responding & is really slow and I have to close. Fix?

Check if this happens in safe mode:

Did you try compact your email?

And repair the folder?

  • Click with right button mouse on Inbox >> Properties >> Repair Folder

Thank you for the answer. Actually I found the problem - it had to do with my antivirus software McAfee. I had to turn off automatic scanning of emails and now it works just fine. There's a problem with Thunderbird and McAffee interfacing... hopefully it will be fixed soon. Thank you.

This solution does NOT work for me. I'm still getting slow load, freezing, "Not Responding" messages. This started happening after the most recent update. I'm on TB 24.4.0
