I want to back up my emails and address book on to a removable hard drive for security - how do I find the files to copy across?

Err...is this for an e-mail provider such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook or is it for Mozilla's own client, Thunderbird?
Emails from another provider I would like to know where these and my address book are stored on the hard drive of my PC so that I can take copies on to a removable hard drive
