Im gonna leave Firefox soon. Flash is SO bad I can't read tips as it flash keeps crashing & interrupting ! HELP

more options

Every time I go to Flash site or any link from your site (like community sites, etc) it goes to Adobe Flash but the darn thing crashes SO often I cant read the page. Pop ups constantly saying Flash isn't responding and it is so intrusive, it takes me 15 or more tries JUST TO BACK OUT!

It's to the point I see no other recourse than using a different browser now.

Thanks,

Ness

Hi Ness, if you haven't tried disabling the protected mode feature of the Flash Player plugin, I recommend trying that. The following pages provide information on how to disable the feature.

To provide a respite on sites where Flash is not actually essential, try setting Flash to Click-to-Play ("Ask to Activate"). This will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it. This should help separate crashes caused by ordinary web content from Flash-based crashes.

To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".

When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

Of course, some pages use Flash just for nice advertising or to store/retrieve tracking data on your computer, so you really only need to allow it where there is some media you want to play.

Not a solution, but hopefully will help a bit.
