Since I downloaded the most recent Firefox update, every time I open Firefox I get a user control popup; admin box isn't checked in FF properties.

Upon startup, I am receiving a User Control popup asking if I will allow the windows NT tool to make changes to my computer. This did not happen until I downloaded the most recent Firefox update. I have verified that the administrator boxes are not checked in the Firefox compatibility tabs from the desktop link or the program. This is very annoying. How can I make this stop?

Also - you never fixed the compatibility issue with the Citrix plugin - is there any update on when this will be fixed?

What is Windows NT Tool?

Can you check for malware?

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

This can be caused because Firefox is set to run as Administrator.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.

Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".

Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

I think I discovered the culprit. I downloaded Garmin Express for my new GPS the same day I updated Firefox, and evidently the Garmin software is causing this. I updated the settings suggested in a Garmin forum and am keeping my fingers crossed. I have Security Essentials and ran anti-malware and troubleshooting stuff - nothing evil on the PC unless you count the Garmin software.

I am going to post a separate question for the Citrix issue.

Yeah, I had had checked that before I posted my question - I read as much as I could find on the site.
