Hi, everytime I try to open Firefox the crash report appears. This also happens in safe mode. I have also tried entering "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\crashreports\\submitted" but it tells me the "location is unavailable" there is a longer description saying it could be in another location. I have also tried to uninstall the program with no success. Hopefully you can help? OS vista. Thanks Claire

You said that entering "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted" including the quotes (I assume, in the Windows Run box?) gives you an error, "location is unavailable". What about when you open the Run box (press the Windows key + R) and enter "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\"? You can also try entering %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports (without quotes) into the Windows Vista "Start Search" box - does that work? Do you see a submitted folder? If so, open it, then open the most recent bp-xxxxxxxx-xxx-xxx" text file and copy the latest Crash ID.

If you don't see a "submitted" folder, then maybe you are not submitting crash reports. Is this the crash report you see?

Mozilla Crash Reporter

If so, make sure that the option to send the crash report to Mozilla ("Tell Mozilla about this crash so they can fix it") is checkmarked.

In any case, you can try a a clean reinstall of Firefox 11 since Firefox 9.0.1 is outdated and insecure. To do a clean install of Firefox 11 without uninstalling Firefox:

  1. Delete the Firefox installation directory which, on Windows 32-bit systems, is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox by default.
  2. Use Internet Explorer or another browser to download Firefox 11 from http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new
  3. Run the setup file to install Firefox 11 Ref: How to install Firefox on Windows

Hi Alice,

Thanks for your help. Turns out I hadn't left a gap between "crash" and "Report" and so I now have my latest crash id which is: Crash ID: bp-26a85295-b954-40d9-a1a8-d59a52120410

I have been submitting the crash reports (on mumerous occassions).

I'm going to try and download the newer version of Firefox as per your suggestion. Will let you know if it works. Claire

Thanks for the Crash ID. Unfortunately, the report wasn't helpful: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/26a85295-b954-40d9-a1a8-d59a52120410

Firefox 9.0.1 Crash Report [@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump ]

If you have any other Crash IDs you can post them and I'll check them out but in the meantime, try installing Firefox 11 like I said, since many issues are fixed in the latest version.
