changing the remembering option of saved passwords
The first time I was asked if Firefox should save a password I said no. How can I undo this and have Firefox remember the password now?

If you clicked "Never" then you have created an exception that you need to remove.
Remove site(s) from the Exceptions:
- Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Exceptions
