I'm sorry to be a nuisance, but lately I'm getting incessant popups everytime I open Firefox and my Yahoo homepage. How do I get rid of them?
Hi, I have asked previously. How do I stop the endless popups, which started a couple of weeks previously. Every time I open Firefox and my Yahoo homepage an advertising popup prevents me from completing a task. Please Help. Thanks.

Your previous question or answer was in
so will try to skip anything already there. I would suggest using the Adblock Plus extension to block unwanted advertising pop-ups. I don't use "No Script": or any pop-up blocker. The pop-up blocker in Firefox can be on or off won;t make much difference as most unwanted pop-ups are JavaScript. ]
Adblock Plus will do nothing without filters and a subscription or two is easily added after installing ADP. The extension is large but well worth having on your main or only Firefox profile.
A nice feature of Adblock Plus filters is that each subscription, and your own additions are maintained separately. Another is that you can bring up a "blockable items" report to see what can be blocked as well as what is blocked, and you can see the specific filter that is blocking an item.
See the "More effective pop-up blocking" section near the end of
You need to install the "Adblock Plus" extension along with subscribing through its options to both "EasyList" and "Fanboys"
Known Adblock Plus subscriptions
Adblock Plus - Open blockable items list - Ctrl+Shift+V (right click on icon) shows all the urls on a page and if blocked by a filter shows the filter

Adblock Plus can be enabled/disabled at the Status Bar, so you can be more aggressive in what you block compared to a hosts file.
Each filter you install and your own are separate, so they can still be maintained separately, but it only applies to the Firefox profile you install it in.
If you have a particular page that is giving you a problem, provide the URL and what the annoyance is. I may not see the problem though as I have a few things that block things so ADP may not even see it.
