Is there a way to delete a bookmark from the book-mark drop-down window (accessed from triple horizontal bar/right side of browser) but retain the same book-mark that had been saved in a folder created in Other Bookmarks? I discovered that when you delete a book-mark entry from drop down menu, the same entry is also deleted from its saved location in Other Book Marks. I was trying to reduce number of unsorted entries in drop down menu while saving (and retaining) the same link in the Other Bookmarks section and folder. I want to continue using the sorting and discrete folder saving possible with the Other Bookmark section but clean up the clutter in the unsorted bookmark section.

Thank you jscher 2000 for your spot-on explanation/solution. Other contributor to this issue suggested a (R) - click/delete action (which is what I have tried many times with the same result: i.e., ALL information to this link in ALL locations are deleted). Ignoring the "Recent Bookmarks" entry appears to be the only way to preserve my folders/links in "Other Bookmarks" section. I truly favor Firefox over all other browsers and can only praise it albeit this one surprising issue. I used to use Opera but found some incompatibilities with some web sites. My wife still uses Opera and we found that a link in Opera's equivalent of "Recent Bookmarks" can be deleted successfully after a separate folder was created in "Other Bookmarks" section and the link copied there. Not so with Firefox. Anyway - thanks again for taking the interest and sharing your understanding of the mechanics/limitations of my dilemma....

Following up on my Question posed (nokaoi1 10/28/22, 6:56 PM), the response Dropa offered in response was not germane to the issue I tried to describe. I do not have any problems setting up bookmarks, accessing them or launching the link. The question was: is it possible to delete a URL link in the unsorted Bookmark menu (drop down window --> bookmarks) but not have it deleted also from the Other Bookmark section where I have copied the same URL link to a titled folder with the link inside. It seems when I create a folder in Other Bookmarks, copy the URL over to the folder and then go back to the unsorted bookmarks to delete it there, this deletion erases the link in both sections. I like the ease and simplicity of temporarily storing links in the unsorted section, but for long term storage and ease to find a particular link, the Other Bookmarks setion with the named folder/link is perfect.

You can remove a specific copy of a bookmark via the right-click context menu of this bookmark. That should remove only this copy and leave other copies. If you use the star then all copies are removed.

"Recent Bookmarks" is a purely chronological list of the most recently added bookmarks that you can use when you can't figure out what folder a bookmark was saved in. As you discovered, you can't remove an item from Recent Bookmarks without actually deleting the bookmark itself.

I think if the (dis)organization of that list bothers you, it would be best to ignore it. You can access your bookmarks in their actual locations using either the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+B), the Bookmarks Menu (Alt+B), or the optional bookmarks menu button () which you can add to the main toolbar using the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars).

In Firefox 96+ you can right-click a bookmark search/query result and click "Show in Folder" to locate this bookmark in the folder list.
