Hi.

Background: I have several identities. One is for my university, and I sometimes have to write mails to some people there. My default mail address is my private one, and I have forgotten to change this on multiple occasions now, sending people in my university mails from my private account.

Question: Is it possible to change the default sender identity based on what domain I enter in the To box?

Regards, Poolitzer.

Hello there poolitzers. We have read your message. We try to help you.

You could add the default mail account email address as an identity to the other mail accounts. Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select settings click on manage Identities click on add then add the default name, default email address and select the default outgoing server.(Basically forcing all new Write messages to compose as if using the main default account) Select the added identity email address as click on set as default click on close click on ok. This means when click on write your from will be the default identity. Reply should still use the from that the account was received in.

There is no automatic function. Is this a answer on your question?

Hi, yeah, I figured as much. Thanks.

I have a similar problem with newsgroups, I might have posted it already but see no way of filtering on my own postings. With different newgroups I use different and group-appropriate nicks, I'd like to couple some of my identities to one or more groups so that it/they cannot be used on another group i.e. only the coupled one(s) being usable on any group. The same issue seems to be of interest to email users as well and as an interim measure I would pop a dialog forcing the selection of an id for each message instead of automated selection based, I think, on the last id used.
