Want to move my Profile to another computer but it's old, not containing all the new folders I created on the Thunderbird window.

When I look at my Profile in the Roaming\Thunderbird folder, it displays folders and data that were created 7/22/2017, not folders that I've created since then and I can see on the Thunderbird window. Like a folder called "Health" on the window is not in the Profile\xx.default\Mail\Local folders. Other folders are missing and old. I want to copy the current date to another computer, but the Profile is old. I also looked under Local\Thunderbird. That data is old, too. Where is Thunderbird storing my current data?

Info on various ways to locate where the current profile you are using is located. For backup purposes, ideally copy the 'Thunderbird' folder in the 'Roaming' folder as it contains everything. But you can also just copy the 'profile name' folder located within the 'Profiles' folder.

Option1: You can see where the account is point in the Account Setting.

  • Right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  • Select 'Server Settings'
  • Bottom right look under 'Local directory:'

This is pointing to the current location.

Option 2: In thunderbird:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • Under 'Application Basics' section, at the bottom of list is 'Profiles'
  • click on 'about:profiles'

It will open in a new tab, which you will then need to select. Full details on all profiles and where they are located.

Option 3: In thunderbird:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • click on 'Open Folder'

It will open a new window showing you the contents of your current 'profile name' folder.

Note: before making any backup remember to exit Thunderbird first.

When you boot up computer, do you logon to your computer 'User Account' or logon as 'Administrator' - meaning you are using a different 'User Account' ? Have you changed your login so you log onto a microsoft account and not a 'User Account?

Toad-Hall, thank you so much. I was able to locate my current Local Files through Option 1 above and transfer them successfully to my laptop. I appreciate all the information you've given and intend to continue to use it. Anne
