My Windows 7 PC won't go to sleep when Firefox is running?
My Windows 7 PC won't go to sleep when Firefox is running. Why? I deleted Mozilla Maintenance Service but it still does it. If I close Firefox, it will go to sleep per the setting in the control panel.

That is a power save setting issue not a FF browser caused problem. I think something else is running inside FF that is is the cause. I know if I left my FF running my computer will go to sleep still.

What do you mean "something running inside FF"? A plug in? Any idea which one? Up until last year my computer would go to sleep with FF open but not now. If I close FF, it does go to sleep. Thanks
That is for you to look at your Browser addon and what other security software you got going to find what is preventing the power save mode from working.

The only security extension I found was Avast and it was disabled. None of the other extensions or add ons look out of the ordinary. Any other suggestions? Thanks
Please go to your Control Panel and check your Power settings as was suggested.
Or : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Thanks for the suggestions. Power settings are ok. I will reinstall FF when I get some more time.
Are there any media players active when this happens? Does it also happen when not tabs are open with internet pages?

No.

Not sure what you mean. I do keep a lot of tabs open of pages I visit often. Thanks
Can you do the following? open Command Prompt as admin and run this command.
powercfg /REQUESTS
Some sites may have bugs that keep media API's active even if they are muted, paused or have no media to play. You can tell if you are having this problem by running the command with FF open, and again after 10 seconds of closing FF.
You will see the folowing if a video stream is being left open
DISPLAY:
[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume?\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
You will see the folowing if an audio stream is being left open.
SYSTEM:
[DRIVER] USB Audio Device (USB\VID_LOAD\OF\STUFF)
An audio stream is currently in use.
This is a bug if there is no sound coming out of your speakers/headset and your volume adjusters are not set to mute. If after closing FF this request disappears when you re run the command, then there is a tab or an extension being a bit naughty.
I have been pulling my hair out over what i thought was a firefox bug, and found that it was https://mega.nz the hole time.
