Firefox resets search preferences every time it updates
I have my default search engine set to Yahoo, or that's what it's supposed to be set to, but every single time Firefox has updated since New Year it's removed Yahoo from the list of search engines and set the default search engine to Google. It is extremely annoying.
Each time it happens I have to set Firefox back the way it's supposed to be - which means going through the clunky process of putting Yahoo back on the list - and then next update I get to do it all over again. It also likes to reset the default language to US English at the same time, but that's far less noticeable.
The platform appears to be irrelevant for this misbehaviour. Windows 7, 10, Android, and iOS, all four versions is doing it.
Why Firefox even offers Google by default is beyond me. At present it's the worst and most inaccurate search engine and more importantly: Firefox isn't Chrome. Google shouldn't even be ticked by default.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Does this just happen only during an update?

Is Yahoo removed, or just replaced as the default.

You can change the default any time you want.

I honestly didn't realize it was still installed. Assumed Firefox removed when it was no longer supported. Thanks, though. Cleansing in progress.
While some websites now use the HTML5 player built into Firefox, there are still many websites that still use flash.
