Why do I get a "server error 9" message when trying to download a hotmail inbox?

One Hotmail account works fine. My other Hotmail account will load the sent messages but the inbox does not load recent messages and I get a "server error 9" error message every time it tries to download.

There are other email users (not all with Thunderbird) here who have the same error and the MS techs seem to have acknowledged it is a problem at their end.

Do you have a large number of messages in your Inbox? That seems to be a frequently mentioned issue.

I have looked around on the internet as well and some folks say there need to be less than 7000 emails in the account. I am well under that number and still have the same problem. I really appreciate the suggestion but if anyone else has a fix please post it. Thanks!

Please add the troubleshooting information to your post To find the Troubleshooting information:

  • Open Help (or click on three-line-icon and select Help)
  • Choose Troubleshooting Information
