Bookmark Names no longer saved (only URLs) when bookmarking all tabs at once. Is there a simple way to resolve this?

When right clicking one tab of 16 open tabs and selecting "Bookmark all tabs..." and selecting a folder to put them in, I noticed that all of the bookmarks created, no longer have the Tab names, just the URLs are displayed in the bookmark folder. When selecting Properties for each bookmark, the Name field is blank. In a previous version of Firefox, the tab name was captured in the Name field, when bookmarking all tabs and the bookmarks correctly reflected the tab names. Not sure at what point this broke. Tried bookmarking tabs in regular window, private window and using another profile's public/private windows with the same results. Bookmarking individual tabs using the bookmark star toolbar icon works fine (i.e. the tab name is captured in the Name field of the bookmark). I checked config settings for any bookmark settings that could be altered, but couldn't find anything relevant. Is there a simple way to resolve this?

It seems to depend if you have already visited the websites before. If website is in history, its name (= name of the tab) is saved as bookmark name with Bookmark All Tabs… function.

I agree, it is a (little) bug, and it could be added to Bugzilla.

This should work in most cases.

Are you sure that all tabs were opened normally during the current session?

If tabs from the previous session are reopened (restored) automatically then this could happen unless you would refresh each of those tabs.

Thanks for replying Cor-el. It used to work in all cases. Yes all the tabs were opened normally during the current session and I viewed each before bookmarking, so each page was fully loaded. I even reloaded all the tabs again and tried bookmarking again, with no success. The icon appears, the URLs are correct, just the name is blank, which presumably forces firefox to display the URL in the bookmark folder. Seems to be a definite bug that was introduced at some point. any ideas?

Thanks for the response Banban. I don't want this to go to your head but ... YOU ARE GREAT!!! Before reading your reply, I happened to find a comment on another issue about trying the problem out on a newly created profile. i discounted it, since I already tried it out with 2 different previously created profiles, but figured why not. Sure enough it worked on a new profile. I decided to backup my bookmarks for both my profiles and try to recreate the profiles again. After recreating profiles, restoring bookmarks, and resetting option settings, I noticed the same problem again.

I then read your comment and remembered that I had played with some of the privacy options for the profiles to not track history, which was your point. After turning that option off and only have firefox delete history on exit, the history started filling again and everything worked fine after that.

Thanks again for your assistance. Very much Appreciated.
