Websites assume I live in states that I never lived in.

Websites always come up with assumed living locations for me (other states) that I never lived in, worked in, and my computer did not come from, was not purchased in, and ISP service is not located in. How do get my 'system' to correctly know where "home" is for me, so other websites and search engines stop assuming I live in Michigan or Colorado instead of Wisconsin where I've been living for the last 35+ years??
