The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

• Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

For Firefox versions previous to 29.0:

1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

For Firefox 29.0 and above:

1. Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information.Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox". Click on it.
3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Hi again, Unfort. the problem remains. Scrolling works sometiimes, but then it stops again.

It also starts working again, but I could not figure it out what makes it re-work for a couple of seconds.

The weird thing is, that all other programs scroll super smoothly

You could try a fresh reinstall or a system restore. For a system restore, it will not delete your personal files, it will rollback to the drivers the last time it was working, fix any programs etc.... you can read more about it on this page: http://goo.gl/hrVdPy

To restore your PC to an earlier point in time

1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

2.Enter Control Panel in the search box, and tap or click Control Panel.

3.Enter Recovery in the Control Panel search box, and then tap or click Recovery.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
   • Windows:
     • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
   • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
   • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
   1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
   2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. Another had similar issues. Turned out it was mal-ware.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

• Microsoft Safety Scanner
• MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
• Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
• AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
• Hitman Pro
• ESET Online Scanner

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Hi all! These steps didnt work either.

I will not do a complete new installation of my system only because 1 program does not read the scrolling input while ALL other programs, windows and apps do scroll perfectly.

I am sorry to say but I really thinkt that the problem is on the softwareside of FF. Safe mode still doesnt solve the issue. I also changed to FF beta to see a change, but it didnt change anything :(

I could try to upload a video that shows the behaviour of the working/nonworking scrolling, because during the scrolling it looks like the focus of the window is changing. This behaviour is not visible in any of the other windows, only in Firefox and Thunderbird

If it is only one program, then you should not need to restore your system.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Open the Add-ons Manager <Control><Shift> A and disable All of them.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences in the address bar and press enter

Select Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Unfort. it didnt help. WOuld love to send u a picture how smoothly it works in chromium while in FF nothing moves :(

No clue what I could do.

It doesnt wor with the touchpad nor the mouse, but with touchscreen it works all fine!

OK, a new observation:

Was playing arounf with autoscroll/harware acc/smoothscroll in the options. all disabled: no scolling possible activating first autoscroll, then smooth scroll and it worked while the option window was still on. closing this window and it kept working for few seconds, then the FF icon in the taskbar was blinking orange and it stopped working.

This procedure can be repeated atm, with same behaviour. Hope this info helps!

EDIT: It can be repeated, but this behaviour appears only in 80% of the cases. All addons disabled this orange blinking icon in the taskbar (cant clearly say what it stands for) might be key to a solution
