Whenever I'm downloading a file, Firefox says that the download is already finish. But when I look at the file, it's incomplete and it's not even half of the size of the downloaded file. But it doesn't say that it was failed, instead it says the download was finished.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

Hi. I tried doing that. I also uninstalled Firefox. But the same thing happens. It still says complete download but the file is actually incomplete. I tried using other browsers and the same thing happens. I don't know what's wrong. It's not my network, 'cause i tried using other networks.

Please help me, I really needed to download files for my work.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

I have had this happen many times. The download is going just fine, no problems showing. Then I get the download finished message, only to find that the download was not 100 % done. It happened with IE, Firefox, other browsers, even install programs that use there own comm system (not use the browser). The only thing that I can think of is this; At some point the program gets the EOF (End Of File) signal and shuts down the link. Is it coming from the web site? A problem with the servers? Line noise? Someone fooling around? The only thing that can be done is to try again.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
