Thunderbird syncronization, saving Gmail space, and deleting
I have the latest version of TB running under NaziSoft Windows 10. My Gmail account seems to be almost out of space. I have cleaned out Spam folders, Trash folders, Bin folders, and I am not sure why when I detach attachments from loads email that totals to over one gigabyte, my 90% does not go lower in Gmail. I have waited for days and nothing has changed and all the while (over a week) I have removed email and detached attachments. I am curious if in Synchronization & Storage under Advance, I select all of my folders for offline use, could I then delete all my email in Gmail and it not affect my TB folders as long as I don't remove any labels in Gmail? Would this help me reduce my gmail space without removing all my TB email?
If that does not work what would be the issues and/or changes I would need to make to my TB side to allow the data retention options for various folders to affect Gmail? If you need more information let me know I can provide what you need to know. Please any takers? fyzxman1

Try compact on the file menu. It also forces an expunge on the server and issues final deletion messages to the server for mail marked as deleted.
You probably also need to check your setting in gmail. They tend to ignore delete commands and instead remove labels and store the mail in the all mail folder as an archive.
