Recently the order in which replies to my emails are presented seems to have changed. I have been used to seeing them in Date Received order within each folder, regardless of Subject or Sender/Recipient. Lately they are being presented as sequences within Threads, relating presumably to the Subject, and/or sender/recipient. When I click on a new email, a tab opens for each and every previous email in the relevant thread. This is confusing and unnecessary, and involves deleting each of these in turn, only for the same ones to reappear each time I open a further email with the same Subject/Recipient. How can I revert to the way in which Thunderbird used to work, and most other email clients and apps still do, i.e. simply the order in which they are received by descending date. Thank you

First, you are one among many who detest the switch to defaulting threading view. You need View>sort by>unthreaded. More info: In config editor, you can change default that applies to NEW folders you set up: mailnews.default_view_flags 0=unthreaded

To set many folders, follow these steps:

   In the Message List view, in the column header on the far right, open the options menu.
   At the very bottom is the option:
   -> "Apply current view to..."
   -> "Folder and its children..."
   -> Hover over an account
   -> In the next menu don't select a folder. Instead select the account name itself.

This isn't a perfect solution, but it does address the issue of unthreading many folders.
