Thunderbird cannot receive emails
Thunderbird stopped receiving emails. I was going to try to fix the issue but trying to do that, for me, can take time, so I using Mailbird in the interim. I sadly learned that I failed to put the Thunderbird's master password in my password manager Dashlane, so I'm locked out (yes, I AM an IDIOT!) I've used Thunderbird for many years and do not want to give it up The main issue is the many, many archived messages on TBird, most having to do with my business (and taxes). Not desiring to shoot myself, is there anything I can do to (1) "get around" the master PW and get in to T-bird or (2) capture in electronic form the many messages I've archived? I'm a non-techie, so please be gentle...

PS. I'm a Verizon customer, so my emails arrive through AOL.

You do need the master password to get new mail. You don't need the master password to start Thunderbird or to read local mail. Just press 'Cancel' at the master password prompt. In case of IMAP you'd need to have synchronization enabled though. That means Thunderbird is downloading an offline copy of your messages to your local disk. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/imap-synchronization
(2) capture in electronic form the many messages I've archived?
Not sure what that means.
You can remove the master password. Note, this will also remove any account passwords Thunderbird has remembered, so make sure they exist in your password manager. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/protect-your-thunderbird-passwords-master-password#w_resetting-your-master-password-if-you-have-forgotten-it
Okay, you're forgiven. This link will help you http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password All is well that ends well.
This is the step I was referring to.
Thunderbird: Choose Tools ->Developer Tools-> Error Console, paste the expression: openDialog("chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul") and press the Evaluate button. That will open a dialog asking you if you want to reset your password.
paste the expression: openDialog("chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul")
This is for version prior to 78 only. Check the support article linked above for the correct syntax for version 78 or later.
