Q: When I delete an email it re-downloads it to my inbox (Hotmail)

more options

Hi there,

I've been a Thunderbird user for almost a decade now and have had a problem that's been bugging me for all these years and I thought maybe I should finally investigate.

I use Thunderbird with my Hotmail account and have the setting enabled so that it leaves messages on the Hotmail / Outlook server (which is what I would prefer). Because my account is so old my inbox is massive, I started sorting messages, particularly large ones, into year-based folders, to keep my inbox folder sizes down in Thunderbird. I would prefer to just delete the emails and not have to keep them (most of the "large" stuff I would sort is stuff I'd much rather delete) but I can't because a day or two later (sometimes DAYS later) Thunderbird will redownload the email I tried to delete, thus taking up even MORE space.

Is there a simple solution to: - Have the setting enabled so that I keep my emails on the Hotmail / Outlook server AND - Still be able to delete messages from Thunderbird without Thunderbird re-downloading them?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

haha this made me laugh, because I can imagine your all those emails downloading to your HD. I dont know what it is you really want, but not re-downloading can be done if you cut the internetconnection. Some help here, good luck
