Thunderbird (TB) syncing Calendar with MyPhoneExplorer (MPE)
I have been successfully using MPE to sync my TB calendar on a WIN7 PC to a MOTO 6 phone for a long time. With help from Toad Hall here I now have TB working fine on my new WIN10 PC. However, after a week of trying I have not succeeded to implement MPE. I have tried MPE support with a nil response. If anyone here has any ideas including any alternative programs to MPE I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Which calendar service are you using? There are TB add-ons for syncing calendars and contacts with services such as google, outlook.com and others, that don't require any additional app for the phone, beyond the standard calendar apps.
Thanks sfhowes for replying. I have been using TB Lightning calendar on PC with MPE calendar for Motorola Moto G6 android phone.
Do you have any recommendations? jack
For google calendars, the Provider add-on is popular. There are versions for TB 60 and 68:

TbSync works with several providers:

Thanks again sfhowes for replying with the links. I have had a look at these and initially I can't see how this helps me to interface with MPE or some other Android smartphone program. When I was looking for a program a few years ago that interfaced Windows with Android, MPE was the only one I could find.
Are you suggesting that I change the Lightning calendar to say a Google calendar (using one of your links) that might help with MPE?
Does anyone else have any knowledge of alternative programs to MPE? jack
The point is, is that if you set up a calendar on your phone, e.g. the google calendar is integrated with the gmail mail app, outlook.com calendar is integrated with the outlook Android mail app, and then add the calendar as a network calendar in Lightning, you really don't need MPE for that purpose.
Thank you sfhowes for your assistance. Unfortunately I have had to deal with other pressing matters over the last few days. I am hoping to get back to sorting this out in the next few days. I now really rely on having a calendar that is synced and if I don't sort it I might have to abandon Thunderbird for eg Google's gmail etc which I desperately don't want to do.
Regards, jack
Firstly, sfhowes I want to say thank you for all your help. In pursuing my aim of trying to sort out my own TB calendar syncing problems I am aware that you have helped so many folks with all sorts of TB issues.
I followed your advice regarding using Google Calendar over a couple of days but gave up. I then came across information on TB Help and another MPE forum that indicated the problems that have occurred with v68 of TB. In desperation I fired up my old WIN7 PC to see if the syncing of TB with MPE still worked. It did and when I checked TB I found that it was v60.9.0. You will probably guess what I did next. Anyway, in order to help anyone else that might be having similar issues I list below the very shortened version of what I ended up doing:
1) Uninstall v68 of TB; 2) Download v60.9.0 and when installing DO NOT tick the box to automatically update TB. (I believe this installs the Mozilla Maintenance Service.) Also do not let TB update without permission. 3) Delete the Add-on for MPE (mpe-addin.xpi). 4) Reinstall the MPE add-on in TB’s Add-on Extensions.
It all seems so simple now but this issue has taken me 11 days (obviously not full time) to resolve.
I’m aware that it is up to FJ Software to update MPE’s Add-on for TB and hopefully they will as I know that others have asked for it. Maybe Mozilla can apply some pressure?
Best wishes, jack.
MPE works with Android phones and Windows computers, and there is no mention of support for versions of TB higher than 60:

The add-ons mentioned above work with any desktop OS, with TB 60 or 68, and are not restricted to Android calendars.
