I updated Firefox two days ago. After the update Firefox would open but no websites would load and I got an Application Error message. When clicking OK on the error message, it would pop up four or five more times before going away. I checked my firewall and Firefox was allowed. While checking other setting in Norton (but not changing any) Firefox started working. I used it all night with no problems, no application errors on opening new tabs.

When I started my computer today and opened Firefox, it was back to where it was after the first install. I opened Norton, removed Firefox in my firewall and added it back. Then I uninstalled Firefox, deleted the files in Program Files and Program Files x64, restarted, ran Windows Disk Cleanup and ran it again with System Files checked. I reinstalled Firefox and am still getting Application Errors and websites won't load. I was getting the Application Errors before the update, but it was only when I opened a new tab and one click would make it go away. I have included a screen shot of the application error before the update and another after.

Leave the permission in Norton. I use Norton Internet Security also, ex-beta tester. There is no issue with Norton. Please though Open Norton And then the Security then Update Date. You may or may not have got the large update and patch.

Your crashing for the following reasons : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ

Please update your Video Card Drivers for your : ATI Radeon HD 4200 as last driver update was Driver Date: 6-29-2011 https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows%207%20-%2064 (info for this was Desktop) if not a Desktop redo this here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/download There is a update to 2013. Keep this file safe for later installs or correct corrupted drivers. There will probably not be any more updates. Always check the above URL

Please run after updating and see how it performs as I believe it was the video drivers only that caused the : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ If still having issues : This the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

I tried all the steps above and I still am having the same issues. When I opened Firefox, there was the refresh option which I also tried, and it still won't load anything and I still get the Application Error message.
