What are the hotkeys in about:preferences#privacy for?

In about:preferences#privacy page, we can see underlined letters (e.g. _A_ccept cookies) that are normally used as hotkeys. However, they don't seem to work -- alone or with Alt, etc. And logically so, since they don't belong to some menu or form. So, what are they for?

This page is a web page, so you need to additionally hold down the Shift key (Alt+Shift+A) to select an item. Press the Space bar to toggle the selected item.

Thank you for your so fast reply. I have tried Ctrl+Shift+A, etc. but not Altl+Shift+A! BTW, I just saw that by further pressing TAB and then the down arrow, one can even continue to change the default option "Always" to "Just visited". Great programming!

Well, it only lasted a few days for me ... because I updated Firefox! Mozilla managed to remove this keyboard shortcut in v56.0!! I hate this. Things like these are what make me reluctant everytime to update Firefox (and other S/W)!

So, the question of this thread got "alive" again!

You can set this pref to true on the about:config page in Firefox 56 to revert to the previous appearance of the Options/Preferences page.

  • browser.preferences.useOldOrganization = true

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Fast reply! Thank you. OK, it works. But then I miss the "new organization". Which, BTW I don't know what does it consist of. I visited https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/56.0/releasenotes/ but there's no mention. I wonder why. How can one know what has changed? And, I would have never find out about 'browser.preferences.useOldOrganization' if you had not mentioned it!

BTW, the question is still alive! :) How do the hotkeys (underlined letters) work in the "new organization" ?

I've noticed a lot of issues with the access keys not working properly if I check this in Firefox 57 and 58. Some hotkeys toggle a checkbox and some others don't. The selected setting doesn't always run into view. So I think that there is still a lot to be done to finish this new design completely.

OK. Thanks.

In each FF version this subject gets worse! In FF 57, hotkeys don't work in about:preferences, whether browser.preferences.useOldOrganization is set to true or false!! Mozilla must definitely hate hotkeys!
