After that period of time FF is no longer usable. When I try to reload a page, it shows on the left bottom some addresses to load but the FF-window turns to all white (or sometimes all black). Switching o other TABs sometime doesn't change the window - somtimes switches to other TAB but can't click (can click of course, but without reaction) on any link in that TAB. The only and always working way out of this is, to cancel all processes of firefox.exe in RESMON and restart FF. After reloading all sessions, in general I can continue working all sessions, where I canceled the processes. Only one time, 1 window of FF only showed the formerly active session-symbols but indicated 'new tab' and had no URL available.

Try to disable multi-process tabs in Firefox. You can disable multi-process tabs in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.

browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:

In Firefox 54 and below:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

In Firefox 55 and above:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the General panel.
  3. Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
    Fx55Performance-disableHWA
  4. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  5. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

I too have a 64 bit Firefox install and the about:config had the first option mentioned already at False, but the autostart2 had to be changed to False..did not correct the issue. I then unchecked the hardware Acceleration and that DID correct the problem. YEAH.. I went back into about:config to put back the autostart2 from False but I could not so I left it. I am not a computer wiz so my question is : Is it OK to leave that autostart2 on false? By the way, I have another laptop also 64 bit but for some reason it has the Firefox 32 bit installed and it did not have this problem. .. the about:config settings on the 32 bit install were False and True.. think I will leave it alone Glad to be farming again..great support!!

If you want to try, go ahead. If there is a problem, shut it down.
