Get Messages not even trying for some email accounts
I have several email accounts from different providers, which I handle through Thunderbird.
Whilst my POP3 accounts work, since the latest update to Thunderbird (v45.5.1) Get Messages on the IMAP based accounts do not even show any messages or indication that Thunderbird is trying to contact the servers.

Try creating a new "account" in Thunderbird for one of those IMAP accounts that is not working, and see if the new "account" works. Some people have had luck with that.
If that doesn't work, the next thing I would suggest is creating a new Thunderbird Profile to test.

Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled".
If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
Alas that was the first thing I tried.... Makes no difference - it appears it is all the IMAP accounts which do not download
